Tong Su's face turned red, and she said shyly, "It's because I really like the book you wrote. I've read it multiple times and even looked up historical records. So, gradually, I came up with this idea."
Mrs. Zhang became even happier, and the more she carefully observed Tong Su, the fonder she grew of her.
She was indeed perfect for the role of Ji Bai Zhu!
When 'The Emperor' was first published, Mrs. Zhang received enormous criticism from the literary world, which made her doubt her own writing.
Unexpectedly, after so many years, she finally met someone who could understand the subtle emotions she had interwoven into the story.
Ji Bai Zhu, a naive yet determined girl, her sole concern was to help her step-brother, even unto her tragic death.
And this person was none other than Xi Tong Su!
Her purity, her stubbornness, her innocence, and her optimism were just like Ji Bai Zhu in real life.
By all means, Mrs. Zhang decided that she would persuade Xi Tong Su to agree to play Ji Bai Zhu in 'The Emperor.'
No one could be more suitable for the role than her!
The more Mrs. Zhang thought about it, the happier she became. She couldn't help but chat with Tong Su. The more they talked, the more astonished Mrs. Zhang was.
She found that no matter what she said, Tong Su could follow up on it.
Whether it was about historical anecdotes or movie shootings, Tong Su could pick up on the topic and express her own unique insights, which were clearly the result of careful observations and thinking.

Mrs. Zhang's heart was filled with warmth, as she heard her fan's enthusiastic support.

Director Zhang had not seen his wife so happy in a long time, and he was also delighted.
However, a lingering question remained in his heart, which grew stranger the more he thought about it.
After listening to their long conversation, he finally found a moment to ask, his eyebrows furrowed.
"If you're such a fan of A-Ming's work, why did you respond the way you did when she invited you earlier?"
Tong Su looked bewildered: "What? What invitation?"
She reacted belatedly, her eyes shining excitedly: "Did you invite me? You really invited me? Of course, I would accept! What did you invite me for? I didn't receive any messages. If you invited me, how could I possibly refuse!"
Mrs. Zhang paused, and Director Zhang squinted his eyes.
Xi Tong Su's reaction was not at all awkward. It was clear that she really didn't know what had happened. How strange was it, considering that Lan Shuer initially claimed Xi Tong Su had "declined outright"!
Thinking about it now, there were oddities about this incident. Evidently, one of them was lying.
Compared to the restless and impetuous Lan Shuer, the pure and clear-eyed Xi Tong Su definitely could not be the liar!
Director Zhang's initial goodwill towards Lan Shuer immediately turned into strong disgust.
He and Mrs. Zhang looked towards Lan Shuer, a chill flashing in their eyes.
Dare to scheme against them this way?
What nerve Lan Shuer had.
Do they think they could be easily trifled with without retribution?
They truly don't know one's own limitations!
Turning their attention back to Xi Tong Su, Mrs. Zhang laughed heartily and said, "It's nothing, not a big deal. By the way, I want to invite you to join the cast of 'The Emperor' for a role. Are you interested?"
