"Me? Director, are you talking about me? You're asking me to play a role? But I don't have any acting experience. Can I do it?"
Tong Su's eyes widened with excitement.
Mrs. Zhang smiled and said, "Of course, you can."
So what if Xi Tong Su is a complete newcomer?
In Ji Bai Zhu's script, she could tailor a role perfectly for Xi Tong Su. Tong Su just needs to be herself.
What's more, Mrs. Zhang also trusts her husband.
As an Oscar-winning director, guiding a newcomer in acting isn't a difficult task for Director Zhang.
Mrs. Zhang thought proudly, she is determined to promote Xi Tong Su. She likes her, wants to utilize her. Can anyone object to this?
Lan Shuer's calculation against herself and Xi Tong Su is likely due to jealousy over her favor for Xi Tong Su.
Alright then, if Lan Shuer is determined to stop Xi Tong Su from joining the team, she will make Xun Tong Su's roles more substantial than Lan Shuer.
For all Lan Shuer's machinations, in the end, she will just play a subsidiary role, the stepping stone for Xi Tong Su!
"Fantastic! Of course! Of course, I'm interested! I'm totally on board, I mean, a thousand, a million times yes!"
Tong Su was ecstatic, twirling around on the spot with her hands in the air. Her eyes twinkled with excitement and curiosity.
Inside her round, almond-shaped eyes shone brilliant joy. Her heart pounded erratically, as if the blood in her body were erupting like a volcano.
"I'm so happy, so thrilled! I get to join the drama crew — wow, I get to act in my favourite script! Even if I'm just playing a minor role, it's more than okay!"
Seeing her exuberance, Director Zhang and Mrs. Zhang couldn't help but smile.
"Sit down, rest assured," they said. "Why would we let you play a minor role? There is a character in the script that's perfect for you, with ample screen time, and you are just right for the role."

Lan Shuer was somewhat uneasy as she applied her makeup. She had no idea where this uneasiness came from, but the vague irritation persisted.
Could Ji Yu persuade Director Zhang to give her character more screen time?
It was all Tong Su's fault!
She considered herself Tong Su's good friend. How could Tong Su not invest money in the drama crew to get her more screen time?
How could Tong Su be so stingy? She didn't treat her as a friend at all.
"She really is only giving me handouts—she's not sincere at all!
Why is she born into such a good family, receiving everything without giving anything? How is life so unfair, not willing to let her taste any bitterness!
The more Lan Shuer thought about it, the more resentment she felt, gnashing her teeth in anger. She looked up at her reflection in the mirror. The woman in the mirror had a sallow complexion, with faint dark circles under her eyes. She looked somewhat haggard, a clear sign of excessive indulgence.
At that moment, the makeup artist lifted her hair, revealing a questionable red mark on her neck.
That damned Ji Yu, she told him not to leave any marks, yet he still left a hickey! Was he sincere? How could she face the crew with this?
"Chuckle..."
The makeup artist couldn't hold back a snicker.
Lan Shuer's face turned grim. "What are you laughing at! Do your job and apply my makeup!"
The makeup artist rolled her eyes, said, "Fine," and resumed working.
"What are you dilly-dallying for! Hurry up!" Lan Shuer snapped impatiently. "And use more concealer, cover up that bruise on the back of my neck. I was injured yesterday, I can't move without getting bruised."
As the makeup artist applied concealer, she struggled to hold back laughter. As soon as Lan Shuer left, she immediately opened her group chat with her friends and viciously gossiped.
"Lan Shuer really thinks no one knows about her and Ji Yu's affair, it's so funny! Everyone in the crew knows that she was brought in by Ji Yu. She tries to pass off a hickey as a bruise from a cable-driven stunt, haha! Can you even get a bruise on your neck from a stunt? She should have been strangled to death a long time ago!"
Annoyed, Lan Shuer exited the makeup room. Not far away, Ji Yu was discussing the script with the lead actress.
The lead role was being played by a veteran actress. Although she was not a massive commercial hit, she was universally acknowledged for her brilliant acting.
As Lan Shuer stood in the corner, she was planning to find Ji Yu after he finished speaking with the lead actress. Having nothing else to do, she looked around, until she suddenly narrowed her eyes.
Her gaze fastened onto two figures exiting from the drama crew's entrance, and she immediately broke out into a cold sweat!
Those two people...why did they look so much like Xi Tong Su and Mrs. Zhang!?
Why would Xi Tong Su come here, and why would she be with Mrs. Zhang?!
