Arc 1: Part 26
"Who allowed her in? Our set isn't open for anyone to just waltz in!" yelled Mrs. Zhang.
The Directors, Zhang and Sun, tried to stop her, "Ah Ming!"
"Sister-in-law, sister-in-law, calm down…"
Regardless of Director Sun, Mrs. Zhang flung Director Zhang's hand off her, she scolded the person in charge in a cold voice. It was clear that her harsh words were meant for those nearby.
"She merely wants to see Ji Yu and Lan Shuer, right? Tell her, no way! Ask her to leave immediately, she's interrupting my shoot!"
The extras who had approached, heard Mrs. Zhang's undisguised curse, their expressions became strange. Glances slipped towards Tong Su, filled with astonishment and bewilderment.
A few actresses on the set, who played minor roles, there was a hint of schadenfreude in their eyes, as they anticipated a commotion.
How had Xi Tong Su incurred Mrs. Zhang's disgust?
Ha, could this young lady of a wealthy family tolerate this verbal abuse? She would surely leave in humiliation and anger!
But what she probably didn't know was that Mrs. Zhang was the sort to respond better to gentleness than aggression.
If Xi Tong Su storms off angrily, Mrs. Zhang would definitely resent her even more.
The commotion attracted everyone's attention, all eyes swiveled to look at Tong Su.
What would she do?
The girl in the blue skirt, who was walking up, had evidently heard Mrs. Zhang's voice. A look of bafflement spread across her pretty face. The light in her eyes suddenly dimmed, filled with sadness and grievance, topped with a touch of confusion.
As if completely unaware of why Mrs. Zhang would have such distaste for her.
"Great Mango Han, I... I didn't come here to visit Ji Yu and Lan Shuer!", she bit her lip, the statement uttered in a low, difficult tone, her eyes brimming with tears and cheeks gradually turning red.
Everyone paused for a moment.
Mango Han... the great?
Who?
Who was this Great Mango Han?
Looking back, they were surprised to find that the previously furious Mrs. Zhang seemed to have hit a pause button. Her face still held a dissatisfied expression, but the fiery anger in her eyes had faded substantially.
Director Zhang narrowed his eyes.
In a cold voice, Mrs. Zhang asked, "So you're not here to visit the set? Then what are you doing here?"
"I... I'm here to see you!"
It seemed that once she started speaking, she completely gave up on being shy.
Taking a step forward, Tong Su's round, apricot eyes sparkled with admiration. With her hands tightly clasped, she stood in front of Mrs. Zhang, her cheeks flushed with nervousness and excitement, slightly trembling.
"I'm your fan!" she blurted.
Tong Su took another step forward, her eyes glistening with admiration. Her hands were clasped and her cheeks turned even redder with her increasing nervousness and excitement.
"Great Mango Han, I'm your fan!"
Mango Han...
Something clicked in Director Sun's mind, and he exclaimed softly, "Ah, isn't that the pen name Sister-in-law used before?"
With his reminder, everyone suddenly understood.
Mrs. Zhang was a well-known screenwriter in the industry, but before she became a screenwriter, she was a not-so-famous writer with the pen name "Great Mango Han"
Back then, the books written by "Great Mango Han" were very niche and had peculiar themes. Apart from a group of loyal fans, they were not well-received by the literary circle.
It wasn't until she changed her writing style and became a scriptwriter through her husband, Director Zhang's connections, that she gained fame.
Now it seemed that Xi Tong Su was actually one of Mrs. Zhang's die-hard fans?
"Great Mango Han, I've bought and collected all your books and read them many, many times! My favorite is the 'The Emperor' series that you are now adapting. I think the moment Bai Zhu died was her happiest!"
Before anyone could react, Tong Su rattled on about a bunch of things.
The more she spoke, the brighter her eyes got and the redder her cheeks became. Finally, twisting and pinching her hands, she looked at Mrs. Zhang with expectation and nervousness, saying, "Can you... give me an autograph?"
Mrs. Zhang took a deep breath and felt as if her heart had been struck by a warm little sun, unable to feel irritated anymore.
After all, who could be angry at that?
Faced with a young girl who admired her so much, especially with her eyes sparkling with expectation, being well-behaved and pure, it was hard not to want to give her everything she desired. How could anyone bear to be angry at her?
