Wen Qing was a woman of strong character.
Upon learning about the incident after exiting her seclusion, she didn't hesitate to annul the engagement. She even immediately left her sect, heading off to the City of Independent Cultivators.
"Men others have touched, I find disgusting! Take this trash if you want, I can't be bothered to pick it up," she declared.
Her former intended partner was furiously embarrassed, but with Wen Qing's extraordinary talent, he couldn't surpass her nor dare to provoke her. Holding in his humiliation, he became the laughing stock of half the cultivator world.
Tong Su asked, "What was the reaction of her former intended partner and junior sister?"
"Naturally, they were enraged," Tian Xuanzi replied. "He sought to suppress Wen Qing relying on his elder brother's power as the sect leader. Indeed, a great uproar occurred in the City of Independent Cultivators. However, when news of his deeds returned to the sect, he was reprimanded and sent back by his own brother."
How could you behave so disgracefully and still have the audacity to embarrass yourself again?
Her intended partner was directly confined to a 'reflection cliff' by his brother while the junior sister, who originally had mediocre talent with no one to protect her, had also incurred the sect leader's annoyance. Naturally, she couldn't stay in the sect.
She quietly left and disappeared.
Years later, Wen Qing forged her name as an artifact refiner, becoming the chief of the Artifact Forge. When her former intended partner heard the news, he deeply regretted his actions.
But so what? They never crossed paths again.
Tian Xuanzi sighed, “Even though Wen Qing had a fallout with her intended partner, she still maintained a good relationship with the sect leader. That sect leader was also a friend of mine, unfortunately, he met an untimely end over a hundred years ago.”
Tong Su said, “So those two heartless guys just got off lightly? If it were me, I wouldn’t let them off so easily!”
Tian Xuanzi, interested, asked, “Oh? And what would you do if you were in her shoes?”
Tong Su didn’t ponder deeply and casually replied, “Since the intended partner and the sect leader are brothers, they must share some resemblance and probably are both quite attractive. And given that the brother is a sect leader while the other is ordinary, it suggests that the brother is more capable. If the younger brother cheated on her, she should just dump him and pair up with the elder brother instead. Becoming that scoundrel’s sister-in-law would be quite the slap in his face, wouldn’t it?”
After speaking, Tong Su suddenly realized what she had said and forced a laugh as she glanced anxiously at Tian Xuanzi’s expression.
Tian Xuanzi, unusually not jealous, instead smirked, his handsome face teasingly smiling as he raised his eyebrows:
“Oh? A'Tong, you seem to have thought this through quickly. Are you hinting that you’d want to be my sister-in-law if I ever wronged you?”
“What?”
He playfully flicked her nose, his tone meaningful, “But you see, A'Tong, you don’t have any chances now. As your senior brother, I’m all on my own, and I wouldn’t give you the opportunity to leave me.”
Tong Su realized he was just teasing and shook her head with a smile, casually playing along with his banter.
The sky was bright now, and it was time for her to go to the Alchemy Tower, while Tian Xuanzi would stay here to recover from his injuries.
Elder Xuan Yan, known for his decisive and efficient demeanor, was already waiting at the door of the Alchemy Tower when Tong Su arrived. He took her to a pill refining room that he had prepared in advance.
His room was huge, divided into several sections. It stored all kinds of precious spirit herbs and pill formulas that were considered extremely valuable throughout Zhongzhou. He was incredibly generous towards Tong Su and agreed to provide her with any resources she required for her studies.
Tong Su’s eyes sparkled as she dove into her research and practice. When she discussed pill refining with the patriarch of Xuan Yan Pill, she was so excited that she couldn't keep her delight hidden. She wished she could live in the room.
She immersed herself in the pill refining room for the whole day, and it wasn't until dusk, when Tian Xuanzi couldn't wait any longer and came to bring her home, that she finally looked up from her work in a daze.
"Ah, is it already evening?"
"Yes," he grumbled, "I thought you were going to leave me alone again tonight."
