Boss-gege Excessive Spoiling - Chapter 35

Arc 1: Part 33

"Mom, give me my phone."

Ji Yu said in a low voice, restless like an ant on a hot pot, with no patience to tolerate his mother.

He said irritably, "I need to contact her urgently to find out what's really happening. If things escalate, it could involve me, which would be problematic."

"Your interference will only make things worse!"

His mother, disappointed, chastised Ji Yu.

"She isn't any good," referring to Lan Shuer, and her constant complications. She did not want her son to be dragged into the murky waters by Lan Shuer.

"So, what do I do now?" Ji Yu asked, "Should I let Lan Shuer issue a clarifying microblog post right away?"

"Absolutely not!" she retorted. "The blogger didn't name Lan Shuer explicitly. Cutting in now to clarify would be an unnecessary confession."

She was right, but the microblog followers weren't playing by their rules.

Ji Yu snatched his phone back from his mother, quickly scrolled through a few pages of microblog comments. What started as criticisms in the blogger's comment section had moved swiftly to Lan Shuer's, and now, it had shifted to his own.

"Ji Yu, is what they're saying on the microblog true? Did Lan Shuer really plot against Xi Tong Su?"

"What exactly is your relationship with Lan Shuer?"

"A gossip revealed that Lan Shuer slept her way into the production. Who is her sugar daddy, is it you?"

"Don't question Ji Yu, he doesn't know anything! This has nothing to do with him, he and Miss Xi are very much in love! Please, don't harass him."

"He still has fans who are whitewashing for him?"

Feeling the pressure mounting, Ji Yu quickly told his mother, "I must meet Lan Shuer and Xi Tong Su now! I have no time for chitchat!"

His mother watched him storm off despite her objections, leaving her feeling frustrated and gasping for breath, her face a pale shade of green.

"Lan... Shu... Er!"

All because of this trouble-maker!

It was 3 in the morning by the time Ji Yu managed to sneak into Lan Shuer's room in the film city.

Inside Lan Shuer's room was chaos. Bottles and jars had been smashed, and shards were strewn everywhere. Lan Shuer sat on her bed, her eyes red with rage, cursing angrily.

"It's definitely Xi Tong Su's doing! The comments on the internet are too unified, they must be bots, bots bought by Xi Tong Su for sure!"

Her manager stood at one side, brows furrowed. Suddenly an angry pillow flew across the room hitting him, "What are you staring at, help me find a solution!"

Lan Shuer disliked her manager immensely.

She had signed on with him, an average manager, when she first entered the industry with absolutely no connections.

This manager had no connections, no resources, and yet had the audacity to interfere in her affairs. He would not let her secretly have relations with Ji Yu — it was laughable! If she hadn't hooked up with Ji Yu, how could she get ahead in this highly competitive modeling industry?

As her fame grew, her dissatisfaction with her manager increased equally.

Taken by surprise by the pillow hit, the manager's expression darkened, his mood exacerbating, "What's going on? Are the rumors true? You don't even tell me anything, what solutions could I think of?"

He sighed, "I've told you before, the industry is chaotic, you have to rely on yourself to climb up. Being shady will only lead to misfortune one day. Depending on others is unreliable and can easily lead to trouble."

Lan Shuer, oblivious to her manager's well-meaning advice, impatiently said, "Enough, just shut up! If you can help me, help. If not, stop yapping about!"

The manager staggered in anger, thinking to himself: This Lan Shuer is simply impossible to manage!
