Arc 3: Part 57
"Bai Tong, don’t you have anything to say? Although you and that person come from the same peak, are you guys —"
"Shan Zongguang!"
Tong Su suddenly shouted vehemently, cutting off his endless grievances. Shan Zongguang looked up at her, puzzled.
"I think there's no need for me to call you 'Senior Brother' anymore. So, fellow Daoist, have you finished speaking?"
Tong Su was still smiling, but her gaze was as sharp as ice: "First of all, I've had no connections with Ziwei Heavenly Palace for a long time. Their tragedies are none of my concern. You're demanding that I return without knowing the whole story, what right do you have? If you want me to return, let Feng Yin Yue kneel and beg me!"
Shan Zongguang's eyes widened in surprise.
What... what was she saying? Kneel and beg her? How dare she demand that Feng Yin Yue kneel before her!
Before Shan Zongguang could roar in anger, the fierceness on her face startled him, making him instinctively take a step back.
"Secondly—”
Tong Su didn't give him a chance to back down. She stepped forward, raised her hand filled with concentrated spiritual power, and fiercely slapped him across the face.
"Oh!"
With a resounding slap, Shan Zongguang yelped as he crashed to the ground with a thud.
His cheek instantly swelled with the imprint of her fingers; he grimaced as two yellowed teeth, mixed with blood, fell out of his mouth and onto the ground.
"Secondly, who do you think you are to speak of him that way?!"
Tong Su sneered, her expression fierce and her words piercing as she mocked:
"You're nothing but a lapdog, always at someone's heels — truly the life of a pawn, deserving of such an end if you die jumping at others' bidding!"
The force of her slap had left her palm stinging from the recoil, yet Tong Su felt no regret.
She even felt a thrill thinking that, compared to a reasoned argument, delivering a direct slap was far more satisfying!
"Bai Tong! How dare you hit me! I'll kill you!"
Shan Zongguang's fall drew the attention of a large crowd. Having come from the esteemed ranks of the orthodox Ziwei Heavenly Palace, when had he ever suffered such humiliation?
His face flushed crimson with rage, he glowered at Tong Su, murderous intent burgeoning within him: "Insolent girl, do you think you can get away with this?!"
With a clenched fist, he drew his life-bound weapon, leaped to his feet, and charged at her, full of lethal fury, his weapon aiming straight for her head!
The crowd gasped, and the cultivators were particularly anxious: "Xiao Bai, dodge quickly!"
However, Tong Su didn't rush. Far from dodging the attack, she raised her foot and walked straight into it.
She was indifferent, her eyes glittering like cold water. Her palm suddenly blazed with a rising flame, forming a fiery long sword that met Shan Zongguang's blade head-on.
"Your... your sword..."
In an instant, Shan Zongguang's confident face turned ashen.
The shape, pattern, length, and width of her sword... weren't they all identical to the infamous Chi Ming Sword of the Demon Lord from years past?!
She sliced down with the flaming sword, and Shan Zongguang’s blade couldn't block it. Despite gritting his teeth and lifting his weapon to resist, his strength was pushed back inch by inch, hopelessly overpowered!
Shan Zongguang was filled with terror. Bai Tong was known to have a wood spirit root, so why was the spiritual energy she was using fire-type?
And, despite her young age compared to his over two centuries of cultivation, why did her spiritual power, which she exerted with all her might, seem more profound than his?!
His fear increased the more he thought about it. Looking into Tong Su's eyes, he found himself staring at a monster, causing his circulation of energy to falter.
Tong Su, with her keen eye, immediately seized the opportunity to thrust her sword. Shan Zongguang screamed in terror as his Dantian was engulfed in roaring flames.
"My cultivation method was taught by him, word by word. He took me under his wing and personally taught me my sword technique. He painstakingly cultivated everything that I am! And yet you have the audacity to speak ill of him in front of me? Only by defeating you can I vent my anger!"
