Arc 3: Part 19
People's expressions abruptly changed, their faces overtaken by anger, hinting sentiments like, "So you dare to admit it," and "How utterly shameless."
Just as they were about to berate her, Tong Su first let go of Tian Xuanzi's hand. She gently patted his arm to reassure him before she turned and stepped out from his embrace.
She moved into the center of everyone's gaze.
Her face was still somewhat pale. Dressed in ragged and blood-stained clothes, she appeared particularly frail. Her skin and hands still bore wounds from being corroded by demonic energy, which seeped out blood that fell onto the snow.
Yet, she held her back straight like bamboo, her eyes clear and sharp. She seemed like a tiny flame in the frigid snowscape, small yet untouchable.
Including the blood that dripped onto the pure white snow--it was eye-piercingly crimson and pure.
"If you were stronger," she started, "you could have killed me directly when you tried to strip me of my spiritual root. I wouldn't have had to keep running, gasping for breath, all the way to the Devil's Den, until my senior brother saved me."
"If you were just a bit more powerful, you could have completely silenced me. You wouldn't have had to return to the sect and fabricate those lies — 'I'm heartless and betrayed you,' 'you, the saint, were just trying to save people,' 'everyone else is to blame, only you are innocent.'"
"Sister Feng, don't you feel guilty in the middle of the night for playing innocent after harming others?"
Tong Su's voice started calmly, but as she continued, it became progressively more stirring, emotional, and accusatory. Every word pierced hearts, every sob shook souls. With the sorrow and frustration on her face, it was difficult for anyone to remain indifferent.
Upon hearing this, people were dumbfounded, and their initially resistant and incredulous hearts gradually began to loosen and doubt.
"Is… is this true? How could Sister Feng possibly…"
Feng Yin Yue's face stiffened, and a look of shock flickered in her eyes.
Impossible, how could Bai Tong know this?
Moreover, how could she speak so coherently, as if her sanity had been restored?
No, she couldn't let her continue, she couldn't let her reveal the truth!
Feng Yin Yue's thoughts raced as she coldly retorted, "No, who are you? You're not Ah Tong! Ah Tong couldn't speak so rationally. Are you a demon from the Demon Realm who has taken her form? Give me my junior sister back!"
Tong Su sneered, her smile growing even more sarcastic, "If you really cared about your junior sister and saw that my sanity has been restored, why aren't you happy for me? Why do you immediately want to slander me?"
Feng Yin Yue hesitated for a moment, instinctively wanting to argue back, but Tong Su didn't give her the chance. She immediately scoffed.
"Sister Feng, are you denying my identity to prevent everyone from believing the truth I've revealed? Sister Feng, you are indeed calculating, but why do I have to choose from the options you've provided?"
She enunciated each word, her voice ringing clear, "Feng Yin Yue, if you want to pretend to be kind and saintly, go ahead and play the role. I have no obligation to join in your farce!"
Everyone immediately burst into an uproar!
"What does Bai Tong mean by what she said?"
"She's talking nonsense! You guys aren't actually believing her, are you? Sister Feng is such a wonderful person, how can she possibly be as calculating as Bai Tong portrays her?"
"Moreover, everyone knows Bai Tong is slow-witted. Now that she's so clear-minded, who knows if she's the same person."
"We might mistake identities, but would the Sect Leader make such a mistake? And, would that demon from before misrecognize her? Didn't you see how much that demon was protecting her earlier! It must indeed be Bai Tong."
"And she has a point. If Sister Feng truly cared about her, would she see her covered in blood and wounds without showing any concern, only caring about playing the victim and apologizing in front of the sect leader? That's too fake!"
