Boss-gege Excessive Spoiling - Chapter 122

Arc 2: Part 43

"If we continue to delay, we'll be late and there will be nothing left. Don't say I didn't warn you."

With a reprimanding tone, Xiao Lingchen ignored Tong Su and spurred his horse forward. Yet, despite his curt words, he didn't ride fast, seemingly waiting for Tong Su to catch up.

"Coming, coming!" Tong Su nodded apologetically to Prince He Lian, then quickly chased after Xiao Lingchen on her horse. "Brother, I'm coming!"

Xiao Lingchen ignored her.

Feeling helpless, she quickened her pace to reach his side, and stared at him unblinkingly.

His profound, sharp eyes, his tall, straight nose, and his thin, soft lips. Her smile deepened as she kept watching him.

"Brother," she said softly. "Why are you angry?"

Xiao Lingchen glanced at the distant forest. His expression was cold, and he didn't say a word.

Tong Su looked at him helplessly and grimaced, "Brother, don't ignore me, okay?"

Finally, Xiao Lingchen lifted his eyes and shot a glance at her, snorting coldly, "You seemed to enjoy chatting with him. Why do you need me?"

His reprimand lit up Tong Su's eyes. A bright smile bloomed on her face. She moved closer, acting as if harboring a ground-breaking secret. In a whisper she said, "Brother, are you jealous?"

Xiao Lingchen abruptly pulled on the reins!

Clopping—

The black horse came to an abrupt halt. It whinnied, hoisting half of its body high with a strong momentum, even lifting Xiao Lingchen. Frightened, Tong Su screamed, "Be careful, brother!"

Then, with another pull on the reins, the horse landed stably on the ground. Xiao Lingchen didn't waver, let alone fall from the horse.

However, Tong Su was still in shock. She promptly pulled her horse to a halt and reached out to grip his sleeve tightly, expressing her serious concern, "That was too sudden. Don't you realize how dangerous it was?"

Anger ignited on her face. Her eyes mirrored her sentiment — her irritation was genuine. Her tone was sharp as she questioned, "Such a harsh pull on the reins, how terrifying was that? What if you fell off and got trampled by the horse, would your leg even survive? Don't you even—"

As she spoke, her voice started to choke. Her eyes were shimmering red, welled up with tears, "Aren't you afraid of making me worry?"

Even amid his profound internal turmoil, Xiao Lingchen couldn't disregard her choke-filled speech and her teary-filled, reddened eyes. With a long sigh, he extended his hand to wipe away the moisture at the corner of her eyes.

"I'm fine."

"You were previously pointing out that I was running wild and saying that I was the one in danger but what you did just now wasn't that even more dangerous!"

The young lady refused to back down, her face full of righteous indignation. Yet her hand, gripping his sleeve, couldn't stop trembling — evidently, her fright hadn't dissipated.

"If you keep acting recklessly, I will, I will..."

A warmth spread in Xiao Lingchen's heart, "You will what?"

She glared at him, "I will stop making food for you!"

"Ha ha ha..." He couldn't help but laugh, "Okay, okay. Such a severe threat from Bai Zhu. I promise I won't act recklessly again. Is that acceptable?"

"Unacceptable! You're still laughing! Do you not have a bit of seriousness? I'm speaking seriously to you!"

"Bai Zhu," Xiao Lingchen stopped laughing, looked at her, and said softly, "You just asked me if I was jealous. I now want to tell you, I'm only your brother, so there's no need to be jealous."

The young girl suddenly clenched her lips, her eyebrows furrowing. She grasped his sleeve tightly, leaning forward to bring him closer. He could smell the sweet scent that emanated from her and quickly leaned back to retreat, "Bai Zhu."

However, she leaned even closer, her little face fraught with tension. Her eyes glowed a vivid red, radiant with anger. Clenching her teeth, she managed to force out a few words.

"If you only want to be my brother, why did you change my surname?!"
