Arc 2: Part 41
"Miss, I'm telling you, you're going to lose points for sure! Didn't you have an antidote card? Give it to the prince and he'll recover immediately. Why did you need my help to look up ancient records?"
Tong Su, wearing a slender-sleeved dress, typical of the fashionable riding attire among the noble ladies, was lightly walking toward the stables.
666’s complaints echoed in her ears, but she laughed and said, "The prince has an allergy. It's not a hassle to treat, so why would I waste an antidote card? Moreover, would I lose points just for looking up some records?”
"It's likely, but how much would be deducted, we'll only know after completing the task. Looking up records is a tricky task. It's a headache, after all, 'allergy' is a term invented in modern times, there was no such concept in ancient times."
666, the green orb, hovered and grumbled near her ear.
What Tong Su and it were talking about referred back to the conversations she’d had with the prince and the head of the court doctors during the prince’s spell of unconsciousness.
"I only used a god chef card, whipped up a few medicated dishes. That’s all. If you really want me to talk about medical skills, I'm just bluffing, putting on airs."
Tong Su sighed.
"Don't worry, miss. Aren't we playing our roles perfectly now?" 666 prattled on, "Miss, I need to log off now. See you in the task space after you complete your assignment!"
"Alright, goodbye!"
Tong Su bid farewell to 666 and had arrived at the stables. She looked around and picked a spirited, date-red horse, leading it out herself.
On the first day of the winter hunt, they were to look for a small enclosed area within the Great Ice Mountain hunting ground. Princes, ministers, and their children were invited to ride around on horseback, shooting at will with no strict rules.
Given the open-minded times, the noble ladies were not confined to their homes, and many of them had become equestrian archers. As soon as the designated area was confirmed, they shouted and urged their companions to enter the forest on horseback.
Tong Su rode out of the enclosure and arrived at the camp gate. She saw a man riding a tall, majestic black horse, holding the reins and talking to someone beside him.
He was unusually dressed in black riding attire, standing tall with a straight back, looking both aloof and noble.
Tong Su smiled and rode over to him. Hearing the sound of hooves, he turned his head to her and warned, "Be careful."
"Brother! If you won't let me ride a horse even before leaving the camp, how can you trust me to go hunting?"
Tong Su feigned dissatisfaction with a playful smile and stopped beside him. "Today, I want to hunt down a few foxes to make a winter fur coat for you."
Xiao Lingchen gestured and handed her a short bow. "Today's the day for you to relax, not for fox hunting. I don't feel secure when your horse runs too fast."
He had beautiful hands, with clearly defined bones and thin calluses on the fingertips. His fingers were slender and powerful, very much in line with his clear and cold demeanor.
Tong Su puffed out her cheeks and deliberately said, "Brother, how can you break your word like this? If you continue like this, I won't pay attention to you!"
"Hahaha, isn't Brother Xiao always like this? Miss Ji, if you don't want to pay attention to him, then don't. How about I take you on a fox hunt?"
Someone unexpectedly laughed from the side. Only then did Tong Su realize that the man who had been chatting with Xiao Lingchen when she came was the Prince He Lian!
After a day's rest, he was already awake, but his cheeks still bore traces of a rash. It gave his handsome face a humorous touch as he squeezed his brows and winked at her in amusement.
"Prince, mind your words," Xiao Lingchen said coldly. "Your good intentions are appreciated, but if it's about hunting, I am here. There's no need to trouble you!"
