Arc 1: Part 67
In just a single night, Lan Shuer and Ji Yu became outcasts, despised by everyone.
Their endorsements were withdrawn, contracts destroyed, and they were suspended by their agency. The team under Ji Yu's name all handed in their resignation letters, and soon even his manager voiced the desire to cancel their contract.
Ji Yu, seething with anger to the point of almost grinding his teeth to dust, glared hatefully at his assistant and others. "None of you should go too far!"
The assistant avoided his gaze, merely placed their resignation letter on the table and scurried away with their head down.
The manager, confident and unashamed, gave a derisive laugh and spoke with a cold smirk.
"Mr. Best Actor Ji, I'm sorry. Even married couples part ways when faced with adversity, not to mention our purely professional relationship. You should sign the contract dissolution as soon as possible. You'll never be able to claw your way up again in this lifetime, so accept it!"
"No, I can't accept it!" Ji Yu roared.
The manager chuckled coldly. "You can't accept it? How could you not?! Who else is to blame for this but you? You brought all of this upon yourself! Who else could you blame for your current downfall?"
Who else could he blame indeed?
Ji Yu, feeling somewhat dazed, helplessly watched as his manager left after tossing a few contracts on the table.
Bitterness filled his heart, leaving no room for laughter. He grabbed a bottle of wine and started to drown his sorrows.
No, he couldn't blame himself — the fault was on Xi Tong Su!
As Ji Yu's father and mother sighed and lamented at home, all he heard were complaints and grumblings, fueling his fury and making him resentful. He couldn't stand being at home any longer.
In a fit of anger, he slammed the door and left to clear his mind.
However, not long after stepping outside, he faintly sensed someone following him. Ji Yu abruptly turned around, catching a glimpse of a camera flash.
It came from an inconspicuous car slowly driving by!
A paparazzo!
Ji Yu's pupils contracted. He instinctively checked his reflection in a store's window, only to see his disheveled hair, unkempt beard, and bruised eyes, making him look haggard and unsightly.
Shocked and furious, Ji Yu charged toward the car, kicking the door violently. "Get out! Give me your camera and delete all the photos! Did you hear me? Get out!"
The paparazzo, exhibiting no fear, mocked Ji Yu from inside the car. "Leave the car for you? Ji Yu, we have no obligation to listen to you. If you continue attacking the car, we'll call the police for damaging private property!"
The conflict caught the attention of passersby.
The onlookers turned their attention toward the commotion. At first, they didn't realize who that disgraced, drunken-looking figure was. But upon a closer look, someone gasped, "Ji Yu!"
"Ji Yu? Damn, is that the celebrity Ji Yu?"
"It's Ji Yu, everyone come over here!"
"Hurry up and take photos, he actually came out! Quickly, take more photos!"
"He thought he was all high and mighty, look at him now, haha..."
Like a tide, the crowd surged toward him. Their excited and scornful gazes turned to him as they began taking pictures with their phones.
Ji Yu suddenly realized his current predicament. His face flushed with embarrassment and anger; he couldn't bear to stay any longer. He quickly pulled his cap lower over his face and hurriedly fled from the scene.
"Hey, Ji Yu, don't run away. I haven't taken your photo yet!"
Ji Yu sprinted, trying his best to hide. It took a lot of effort to find refuge in a secluded alleyway. Seeing the laughing crowd that had been chasing him depart, Ji Yu was still in shock.
He leaned, worn out, against the wall. After a long while, he gradually slid down into a crouch, hugging his knees.
He felt a profound hatred.
A deep hatred for Lan Shuer, but an even deeper grudge against Xi Tong Su!
At that moment, his phone rang.
Ji Yu cast a glance at the screen and, seeing the caller ID, picked up the call furiously. "Lan Shuer, you've got the nerve to call me?"
On the other end of the line, Lan Shuer coldly said, "I won't waste words with you. Just tell me, will you help me seek revenge on Xi Tong Su or not!"
